Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we don’t, and the third parties involved when you use the calculator.
Last updated:
This page explains how MortgageCalc Pro (the “site”) handles information about you. We wrote it in plain language. If anything below is unclear or seems wrong, please reach out via our contact page and we will fix it.
What we collect on our own
Nothing on the server. The site is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages. There are no accounts to create, no forms that send your inputs anywhere, and no database. The numbers you type into the calculator are processed in your own browser and never leave your device through anything we control.
What lives in your browser’s local storage
We use a small amount of browser local storage so that two convenience features can remember your choices between visits. These keys live only on your device — we never read them server side because there is no server to read them with.
mortgagecalc.compareScenarios.v1— stores the second loan scenario you set up on the comparison page so it survives a refresh.mortgagecalc.consent— remembers whether you accepted or rejected personalized advertising.
You can clear either of these at any time from your browser settings, and clearing them does not affect how the calculator works.
Cookies and the consent banner
On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept personalized advertising. Your choice is recorded in the local-storage key above and is honored from that moment forward:
- Accepted: Google AdSense may serve personalized ads using cookies set in your browser by Google. The cookies are set by Google, not by us.
- Rejected: we instruct Google AdSense to serve non-personalized ads only. AdSense can still set a small number of cookies it considers strictly necessary to deliver and measure non-personalized ads, but it will not use a profile of your interests to choose what to show you.
You can change your mind at any time. Use the Manage cookie preferences button in the footer to bring the banner back and pick again.
Third-party services we use
Google AdSense
Display ads on this site are served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, measure their performance, and (if you accepted) personalize them. You can read Google’s description of this at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and the broader Google privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time at google.com/settings/ads, independent of the consent banner on this site.
Affiliate partners
Some buttons and links on this site point to mortgage and refinance partners — currently Bankrate, LendingTree, and Credible. These relationships are pending at the time of this writing; once a partner is live, clicking through takes you to their site, and we may earn a commission if you complete an offer. Each partner has its own privacy policy that governs what happens after you leave our site, and we have no access to the personal information you share with them.
Cloudflare Pages
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare receives the standard HTTP request information any web host needs to deliver a page to you (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamps). If we enable Cloudflare Web Analytics, it gathers aggregate page view data without using cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
Google Search Console
We use Google Search Console to understand which search queries surface our pages. Search Console reports show aggregate metrics like impressions and clicks; it does not give us any user-level data.
Affiliate disclosure
Some links on this site are sponsored. We may earn a commission, at no cost to you, if you click through and complete an offer. We disclose this in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements. The presence of an affiliate relationship does not influence the math the calculator performs or the order in which we discuss strategies in our articles.
Your choices
You can opt out of personalized ads on this site by selecting Reject in the consent banner. To revisit the choice later, use the Manage cookie preferencesbutton in the footer. Your browser also gives you control over cookies and local storage; clearing them removes our consent record and the calculator’s saved scenarios.
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for an adult audience. It is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will work to delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for a reasonable period after they take effect.
